About us

12 years on Lincoln’s rooflines

Clearrun is two vans, four people and a yard on the north side of the city. We started with a ladder and a bucket; now most of our work is done from the ground with poles, vacuums and cameras, which is quicker, safer and kinder to old gutters.

How does a clean actually go?

What came out of their gutters

How we work
A row of red-brick terraced houses with black gutters and downpipes on a grey day
“Water was coming over the back gutter every time it rained. They found a tennis ball and a fist of moss sitting on the outlet, cleared it from the ground and sent me the photos before they had even left the street.”

The gable end of a red-brick semi-detached house with a slate roof and black gutter
“Fixed price on the phone, fixed price on the invoice. They also spotted that two brackets had pulled out above the bay and refixed them while the ladder was already up, for twelve pounds.”

A red-brick detached cottage with painted gutters and downpipes behind a brick wall
“Our cottage has old cast-iron gutters and I was nervous about anyone leaning a ladder on them. They used the pole vacuum, never touched the ironwork and the camera pictures showed it was the first proper clean in years.”

A brick bungalow with a red tiled roof set back behind a lawn and flower bed
“We went on the spring and autumn plan after the second overflow. Two visits a year, a text the week before, and the bungalow has not had a damp patch on the gable since.”

Questions

Ladders, leaves and access

The things people ask before they book.

Do I need to be home?

No. We need access to the back of the house, so leave a side gate unlocked and tell us about dogs. You get the photo report by email either way, and you pay by bank transfer or card link after you have seen it.

How do you clean a gutter you cannot reach with a ladder?

Most cleans use a carbon-fibre pole with a high-power vacuum, worked from the ground up to three storeys. A camera on the pole shows us inside the gutter, and those pictures become your report. Ladders come out for repairs, guard fitting and anything the pole cannot clear.

How often should gutters be cleaned?

Once a year for most houses, in late November after the leaves are down. Houses near trees, especially sycamore, pine or birch, usually need a second clean in late spring. That is why the twice-yearly plan exists.

What happens if you find damage?

We photograph it and tell you before we touch it. Small fixes like a loose bracket, a dripping joint or a slipped downpipe clip are priced on the spot from our fixed list. Anything bigger gets a written quote and you decide later.

What if it rains on the day?

Light rain is fine; it actually helps us see where the water goes. In heavy rain or high wind we move you to the next free day and text you the new date the evening before.

Are gutter guards worth it?

If you have overhanging trees, usually yes: they cut a twice-yearly clean to one check a year. If your house has no trees nearby, a yearly clean is cheaper over five years. The comparison on our prices page shows both for your house.
